Artist Corner
A place for me to share anything and everything I find cathartic that is not necessarily related to ADHD or Autism - like my backyard chickens, food, songs, etc. Enjoy!

What are ground treasures you might ask? They are trinkets I find on the ground because I tend to look down everywhere I walk. I have done this my whole life... and surprise! There might be a tie to autism there. Check out my blog to see why. In the meantime, come back later to see what new treasures I find!

TRINKET OFFERINGS

I never would have imagined when starting this blog that a few months later I would find a statue that I could patron and honor by bestowing my found trinkets upon it!

This day I visited Renfest. Cue a large village sized spectacle in Colorado where we get to go back to a time that combines the dark ages with fairytale folklore…
The entire festival spans 60 acres. Attendees are encouraged to dress in costume resembling the period attire where they’re sure to be playfully harassed by angry wenches and lads, and enjoy a good turkey leg and lager.

I attended with my daughter who SPECIFICALLY MENTIONED, before I said a word, that one of her favorite things about the faire is finding trinkets on the ground.

I’m sorry, are we related?
Obviously I found several while walking the grounds. Things most likely fallen off costumes unnoticed, but each trinkets story unique and unknown.
Upon finding this statue, I felt an actual reverence that bordered on hilarity and a strange sense of serendipity… but it definitely had more relevance to me than it did for most. I placed upon it a small trinket of beads and an owl, and upon another stone offering I placed the butterfly and gear. It made me smile… it made my whole day.

GARDENING

Never have I ever
found a happier place
than connecting with life...

Gardening and nature
Stitch my tattered soul.

Here I find peace.

Here I find Joy..

Have you met JEFF?

He works at Schmalmartenetalullc

He's made an appearance in a few of my videos.

His hobbies are working at said company and coming home to predictability.

But Jeff is not totally boring, Jeff knows how to have fun. He orders the occasional Netflix dopamine boost with takeout, but he also boasts other proud accomplishments.

Beyond his 401K retirement plan, he's gone on vacation with "babe". Why? Because he's had a predictable employment history at.... company... and has accrued 40 days of vacation after 30 years there.

When he's not showing you his coin collection he'll be showing you the cool vacation photos he's taken while in Greece, and tell you all about that time he tried a croissant with pesto, when he normally likes croissants with butter... Why?

Because Jeff if no square. Jeff knows how to be responsible, but also how to let loose once in a while.

Finding beauty in the mundane
Pieces of the past
Do you ever look at an old coin and wonder what it has seen?

Love is a Drug
Today's ear worm
I'm supposed to have more than just songs here right? Well...
Supposed to? That's the beauty of this page, I can do whatever I want with it.
LOVE IS A DRUG:
I was listening to this song on full blast through my headphones on 4th of July (American Independence Day).
Two giant fireworks exploded in the sky at around the 1:23 mark and my body had a visceral reaction of goosebumps, awe, and beauty all rolled into one.
Love is indeed a drug and the brain is an amazing thing.
"When we’re in love, we often experience increased production of dopamine, a neurotransmitter that is also activated when we experience addiction. The hormone oxytocin also produces euphoric feelings that are similar to those produced by opiate drugs." - Better help article, Medically reviewed by Andrea Brant LMHC
Euphoric feelings...
The stomach dipping roller coaster we ride when thinking of someone new... Our breath seems to be stolen from us, our hearts pound, and our whole body resonates with an exciting electricity at just the thought of them.
But is it love, or lust?
After a while the excitement fades. When that is stripped away we face the question of what we will be left with. Inevitably the next natural stage happens whether we're ready for it or not...
The transition of being hit head on with all the imperfections, and the hard work. The team aspect of tackling the difficulty of life and immersing yourself in the boring, not exciting, very unsexy parts of reality... But the beauty of having a built in best friend and companion to do it with.
My imperfections run deep and my body is full of scars. So much weeding, watering, and hard work to make the the garden bloom for so many of us.
The reality of love will chew up and spit out those who are not prepared for it beyond the high. But yes....Love is an exciting helluva drug indeed...

I will have some different art here someday... when I'm ready. Stick around <3

Sometimes you find that one song that just assimilates to the coreography of your soul. It's automatic - it doesn't have to try. You don't have to think about if you like it or not - you just do.

Isn't human nature a funny thing?

I have a playlist on YouTube that I've been building over the years, and every so often I find that one gem that just moves my world for a season.
And then I enevitably play it out until I get sick of it .
